Storing Data in the Clouds: Is It a Silver Lining? (Program at 2014 VBA Summer Meeting)

Andrew Stockment presented "Storing Data in the Clouds: Is It a Silver Lining?" at the 124th Summer Meeting of The Virginia Bar Association on July 26, 2014 at 9:00am. This 1.5 hour continuing legal education (CLE) program was sponsored by the VBA Law Practice Management Division and took place at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Topics included: (1) introduction to current cloud technologies, (2) risk management concerns, (3) ethical concerns for confidentiality in cloud usage, (4) how to evaluate terms of use and privacy policies, (5) security fundamentals, (6) product adaptability to complex infrastructure, and (7) internal vs. external solutions. The CLE was presented by Andrew B. Stockment, Joseph H. Carpenter, IV, and David I. Greenberg and was moderated by Monica McCarroll. For more information, go to: vba.org/vbasummer14.

Andrew focuses his legal practice on business law, intellectual property and technology, cybersecurity and data privacy, and securities and private equity. He currently serves on the VBA Law Practice Management Division Executive Council as the Young Lawyers Division Representative, and he also serves on the VBA Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law Section Council as the Young Lawyers Division Representative. Andrew is a member of the Executive Committee of the VBA Young Lawyers Division and is the Editor-in-Chief and Production Editor of Opening Statement, the VBA YLD Newsletter.
