Jennifer Shirkey is one of the Virginia CLE faculty members presenting at the Roanoke session of the 34th Annual Trusts and Estates Seminar. Her topic is "First Came Loving, Then Came [Same-Sex] Marriage: Estate Planning and the Evolving Concept of Marriage in Virginia," based on written materials prepared by fellow faculty member John Midgett of Midgett Preti Alperin in Virginia Beach. Her presentation will examine the Supreme Court's reasoning in Windsor and Obergefell and the estate planning issues now facing same-sex couples.
Jennifer was a faculty member for two prior Virginia CLEs this year: the 67th Annual Virginia Conference on Federal Taxation and "Where are We Now with the Affordable Care Act (ACA)?"
