Jennifer Shirkey will be a guest speaker at the University of Richmond 47th Annual Estate Planning Seminar for Professionals in Richmond on May 14, 2019. Jennifer’s topic will be State Fiduciary Income Tax Issues for Trusts and Related Issues When Planning. Her presentation will cover the various approaches states use to determine which trusts are subject to their income tax. It will include discussion of The Kimberley Rice Kaestner 1992 Family Trust case out of North Carolina that is currently pending before the U.S. Supreme Court as well as a major legislative change that will soon take effect regarding the scope of Virginia-taxable trusts.
