Contingent Fee Business Litigation
At Flora Pettit, we are committed to providing our clients with access to the court system when they need it. We provide a wide variety of business and commercial litigation services across Virginia, and in some situations, across the country.
In representing businesses, Flora Pettit’s attorneys understand that it is sometimes necessary for a business to undertake litigation, but that need often times arises unexpectedly. As business litigators, we recognize that these unplanned and unbudgeted for situations sometimes require alternative and creative representation and billing in order to protect the assets and interests of the business. For some, traditional hourly fee billing makes the most sense, but other businesses and individuals may not have the available resources to make that hourly billing arrangement feasible. That is why we work with our clients to craft fee arrangements that work for them and for us. Fee structures for our business and commercial litigation services vary from hourly billing to fully contingent representation, with blended arrangements in between. In this way, Flora Pettit partners with its clients in litigation – aligning their interests in the litigation with both being incentivized to work diligently, keep expenses as low as possible, resolve the matter quickly, and recover as much as possible.
These creative arrangements can be the most efficient way (and sometimes the only way) for a business to protect its interests without adversely affecting its cash flow by having to pay attorneys fees up front. In the right case, Flora Pettit attorneys are willing to partner with its client to get to a successful outcome for the business as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Some of our recent cases include:
- Successful corporate dissolution case by an oppressed minority shareholder in a closely held corporation
- Successful multi-million dollar patent infringement and trade secrets suit against large multi-national corporation
- Successful litigation for copyright infringement and breach of contract on behalf of design company against national t-shirt company
If you need legal advice on business cases which may be appropriate for a contingent fee arrangement, contact the lawyers at Flora Pettit.
