Cathy Welsh presenting to Non-Profit Institute on Employment Law Issues

The Non-Profit Institute (NPI), a collaboration of James Madison University and other business and civic organizations, offers a professional development non-credit certificate program for leaders and managers in non-profit organizations throughout the Shenandoah Valley. Non-profits are small, but they still have employees and can have difficult personnel situations especially because, in a smaller work environment, policies are not always written or followed. Cathy Welsh will help these non-profit leaders understand best business practices when it comes to hiring, firing, paying and disciplining employees. She will also discuss state and federal agency scrutiny over what they deem to be “misclassification” of employees as independent contractors.
